“Alien Vs Predator 2” to be produced

Posted on August 11, 2005August 11, 2005 by Chris McQuillan

SCI FI Wire is reporting that Alien vs. Predator 2 is indeed going to be made and will is likely to revolve around a battle in our world.

“We will do another one of those for sure. It was a big success. […] It’s likely that we will bridge the gap, and the beginning of that will be setting it in our contemporary universe.”

20th Century Fox Film Co-Chairman Tom Rothman told SCI FI Wire at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles. He laughed when the characters were likened to terrorists.

“They were always terrorists, yes, but only metaphorically.”

The original movie opened to lacklustre reviews. In fact, that’s putting it mildly. Some of the more controlled reviews featured gems such as:

“Alien vs. Predator is a cool-looking lunchbox that’s full of rocks.”

“Unintentional laughs outnumber legitimate scares.”

“Unwatchable!”

What “success” is Mr. Tom Rothman referring to? Talk about flogging the dead Alien.

Quiet times

Posted on August 10, 2005August 10, 2005 by Chris McQuillan

In general, the sci-fi world is very quiet at the moment.

With most shows (except Stargate and Battlestar Galactica) on summer hiatus, not much is happening. Exciting, isn’t it? We’re not dead, but the genre is sleeping at the moment. ;-)

Never fear though, Sci-Fi Heaven will have some exciting new treats coming up to break the tedium. Keep checking back for new competitions, caption contests and editorials.

SG-1 Game Cancelled

Posted on August 5, 2005August 5, 2005 by Chris McQuillan

JoWood Press Release

JoWooD regrets to be forced to cancel the development agreement with Perception, the Australian developer currently responsible for the Stargate-SG1: The AllianceTM license title. “The title in its current form, initially scheduled for an October 2005 release, does satisfy neither our quality requirements nor the fans expectations. We will not release anything that does not do justice to this well known license” says Albert Seidl, CEO JoWooD Productions Software AG. “In recent months we have invested a lot of time and resources in helping Perception finish the development, but we now simply have lost confidence in their ability to finish this project in time and sufficient quality.”
