Voltron to the big screen?

Posted on July 20, 2009July 20, 2009 by Traveling With Jim

voltron

Charles Roven, Steve Alexander and Richard Suckle from Atlas Entertainment are said to be working on a Voltron movie.  The rights have been acquired to make a live-action movie based on the 1980’s cartoon.

World Events Productions out of St. Louis has had the rights for more than 20 years. Ted Koplar of World Events Productions and Jason Netter of Kickstart Entertainment will also be producing the movie.

The first season featured a team of five young pilots commanding five robot lions, which could be combined to form Voltron. In this undefined future era, the Voltron Force was in charge of protecting the planet Arus (ruled by Princess Allura) from the evil King Zarkon (from planet Doom), his son Lotor, and the witch Haggar, who would create huge Robeasts to terrorize the people of Arus.

I know science fiction often fortells the future, but not THAT far in advance. I trust it wasn’t really a ‘1908’s cartoon’ as above.
