New Roddenberry Show Green-Lit

Posted on January 24, 2010January 24, 2010 by Chris McQuillan

The show Gene Roddenberry believed could have been "bigger than Star Trek” has been green-lit by Roddenberry Productions and Imagine Television.

“˜The Questor Tapes’ pilot was originally conceived as a TV pilot about a android in the future whose memory banks are incomplete, and he struggles to find his creator and purpose.

The parallels with Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation are obvious, and indeed “˜The Questor Tapes’ served as the inspiration for the character.

A version of the pilot aired in 1974 as a TV movie with Robert Foxworth as the android.

The new version is currently negotiating with X-Files, Firefly, Angel and Dollhouse guru Tim Minear to direct.
