David Eddings passes away aged 77

Posted on June 3, 2009June 18, 2009 by Chris McQuillan

DavidEddings_TheRedemptionOfAlthalus I sadly learned today that David Eddings ““ one of America’s finest fantasy novelists ““ passed away yesterday at the age of 77.

I had no idea he was this old ““ indeed his writings did not begin to get published until he was in his fifties ““ yet Eddings held a mastery over his craft and was capable of creating amazingly vivid worlds with fantastically compelling and realistic characters.

Although I read quite a few of his books, The Redemption of Althalus holds a firm place in my heart.  The Elenium and particularly Tamuli series’ were also fantastic reads, although he will probably be most remembered for his Belgariad novel series.

A true great.  RIP David.
