Ricardo Montalban has died aged 88.
The actor passed away at home yesterday morning, although no cause of death has yet been given.
The actor, famous for portraying Mr. Roarke in Fantasy Island, but familiar in sci-fi circles for his epic performance as Khan, Kirk’s nemesis in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan – a performance which rocketed the actor to colossal heights in the eyes of Trek fans worldwide. His performance was fantastic, as one writer said, lifting Star Trek II “to an almost Shakespearean level“.
He also appeared in the first Naked Gun film.
A true acting great, condolences go out to the family and friends of one of cinema’s greatest villains.
Thank you, Mr Montalban, for creating one of science-fiction’s greatest bad guys.
