Bale Rules Robin Out of Batman Sequels

Posted on July 3, 2008 by Chris McQuillan

christian-bale-2 Batman star Christian Bale has spoken of his dislike for the Robin character, stating that if he were to appear in any of the new Batman movies he would “be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work“.

There had been rumours circulating in recent weeks that Robin was planned for the sequel to the Dark Knight, but Bale finds the character to be lame.

In truth, Robin scarcely seems dark enough for Christopher Nolan’s reimagined Batman, and it would be difficult to take a tragic/complex side-kick character seriously with a name like Robin.

Conundrum.

Our verdict?  Keep the character away from the franchise, until someone has an absolutely kickass way of bringing them back.
