Flash Gordon to be Remade

Posted on May 21, 2008 by Chris McQuillan

flash-gordonIt’s been circulating around the online forums for a while, but it has now been confirmed by Variety that Sony have acquired the rights to remake Flash Gordon.

They’ve gone further than that too, announcing that Sahara director Breck Eisner is set for the executive producer role, with Neal Moritz producing.

It will be the latest incarnation of Flash Gordon, the most recent coming from Sci-Fi Channel’s eponymous series starring Eric Johnson.

Why, oh why, do we need more remakes, reboots, resets and reimaginings.  We’ve got heaps of wonderful ideas out there waiting to be translated onto our screens and into our theaters and cinemas.  Why waste money running old ideas into the ground?

Alas.
