The sequel to J. J. Abram’s 2009 reboot to the Star Trek franchise is being kept firmly under wraps until the 2013 release date. We have a vague synopsis and a confirmation of cast but fans still don’t know who the villain will be or the main plot line. A teaser poster has been released and it’s fairly tantalising…
The figure is presumed to be Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain, and he looks to be overseeing the ruins of a 23rd century city – the appearance of the Gherkin would suggest that it’s London (poor old London – what did it ever do to him?). It’s pretty Dark Knight Rises in style, but it certainly matches the synopsis released:
“With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”
I’m excited. Very excited!
This poster has nothing to do with Star Trek as I know it. :(
