Syfy channel actually ordering SciFi?

Posted on August 7, 2012 by Andi Hamilton

With the decline of original Sci Fi on the Syfy network over the last couple of years it looks like SyFy may actually be ordering some new Science Fiction to air some time next year, probably airing alongside the usual terrible programming of WWE and Ghost Hunters.

According to a couple of reports form the website Hollywoodreporter.com (found here and here) the shows premises are as follows;

High Moon centers on a future where the countries of the Earth establish colonies to mine the Moon’s resources, only to see chaos erupt when new forms of life are discovered.

Proof centers on the son of a billionaire tech genius who, following an accident that claims his parents’ lives, offers a large reward for anyone who can find proof of life after death.

The idea behind High Moon seems like it could be an interesting one, fingers crossed it turns out that way. Hopefully this is a turning point for the Syfy channel and that more science fiction will be brought to our screens rather than grown men in tight pants throwing each other around a ring.
