Growing up I loved The X-Files, fair enough the majority of the time I was scared senseless while watching some of the episodes, but even to this day I enjoy watching the show. As much as I enjoyed the monster of the week episode I loved the whole alien storyline arc which spanned the entire series. I honestly think that the second movie should have featured that storyline rather than a monster of the week type film, it may have done a lot better in the box office then.
There is always talk of a third X-Files movie to wrap up the story and David Duchovny has recently interviewed with Christina Radish over on collider.com for his new project called Goats, but you can’t have an interview with David without asking about X-Files so to head on over to collider.com to read the full article.
His response to being asked about whether he has closed the book on X-Files is amazing, so I have it embedded below:
DAVID DUCHOVNY: Do you know something I don’t know? Am I dying? No. That book doesn’t close until somebody dies, really. One of the greatnesses of the show was its open-endedness. It was about possibility. It wasn’t about closure. It just couldn’t be. There is no such thing as that story ever ending. Those characters are forever searching. That’s what they do. Even if we’re not watching them, they’re out there, in some dimension. Mulder and Scully are still doing their thing ‘cause that’s their nature.
I really hope that a third X-Files film is made just to conclude the series properly, rather than ended it with X-Files I want to believe.
The Truth Is Out there.
