With the third season of the popular sci-fi military drama just finishing its run, there’s some confusion as to the state of its future.
It was recently announced on many internet blogs that “official” word had come through that the 22-episode fourth season would be the last. Stars Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama) and Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) told The IESB at the Saturn Awards, that the SciFi Channel will not continue the show after its fourth season (scheduled to begin in January).
“This will probably be the most extraordinary season of ‘Battlestar'”, said Olmos, “It’s the final season, so it’s definitely going to be the most vicious. As far as we know, in respects of the way we have this show constructed, this is the final season.”
However, this “announcement” was followed by another from executive producer David Eick.
“For those of you who have been paying attention over the years, this is not the first time Eddie has made an announcement about the possibility of the show’s end,” chuckled Eick. “I promise you that when [executiuve producer] Ron [Moore] and I make a decision about Galactica’s future, we’ll let you know.”
The mystery thickens.
